I can't believe we are already through November and on our way to December and the New Year! This week we are working on the short i sound. Try to have your student find words that have the short i sound as your read. You might also give them a small list of words with the short i sound to read such as; pip, hip, sit, tip, fit, it, in, and have them read it to you. Our sight words this week are he and for. Ask your student to look them in their reading. In math we are continuing to work on identifying and writing number 10-20. Write the numbers 10-20 on flash cards and see if your student is able to identify them out of order. You might also draw a group objects, such as hearts or squares, of 10, or 12 or another number between 10-20 and ask your student to write the number they count.
Have a great week!

Just a reminder that we do not have school tomorrow.
This week we have been working on the letter C and its sound. We continued to work on the words we, like, and my. We have really started to work on how we can stretch out words by using the beginning, middle and ending sound. Ask your kiddo to show you how you might stretch out the word cat or cap. You can also practice stretching out words when you are reading at night. In math we have started using the words fewer and less. Ask your kiddo questions such as "tell me a number that is fewer than 14", also ask them how they know the number they picked is less/fewer than 14. Have a great weekend! Just a reminder that we have our Veterans Day Celebration coming up this Friday! We will also be dressing for respect that day! Lastly, we have our Thanksgiving feast Friday during our lunch time. We will be working on the words for and he this week. Please see the complete list of sight words in your child's RED folder that we have worked on so far this year.
This week we will be starting a new book in reading called The Little House. We will be working on things such as retelling the story in order. We will be working on adding in the sight words, in, so, and can. As you're reading ask your kiddos to pick out some of these words. You might also have them look for other sight words we know such as; am, a, the, to, I, and my.
Again, parent-teacher conferences are approaching quickly as they will be held on October 25 and October 26. Please make sure that you have filled out the google form to choose your families time. During parent-teacher conferences you will have access to our annual book fair that is held in the gym. I hope that you will stop by and see all of the great book options for your kiddos! Please let me know if you are having trouble accessing and signing up for a conference time. Mrs. Scherer I can hardly believe that 1st quarter is almost over and we are nearing parent teacher conferences. The kiddos have been working so hard on learning their number and letters among many other things! I hope to meet with you all at conferences so we can talk about how each of your students are doing. Please be looking for an email that will link you to the google form to set up a time to meet. If for some reason you do not receive the link please let me know.
Mrs. Scherer Wow! It has been such an exciting first week of school! Monday we were able to watch the Solar Eclipse and the kiddos did a great job of making sure they used their glasses to protect their eyes. This week we have been working on talking about the Dardenne I Can statements to help us learn how to be a Dardenne Knight. Today we were able to practice the I Can be safe statement during our first fire drill and the kiddos did a wonderful job! Lastly, I recently had a name change and have an upgraded email address. If you wish to email me please us the new email address: [email protected].
